1 Peter 3: 3-4 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
What does Peter mean here? Does he mean we can never wear anything pretty or any jewelry? Is he saying to never do our hair? No, I do not think he is. What I he is saying is, focus on the your inner beauty; it can NEVER perish! We should be making more time to adorn our inward self; our actions, our speech, our thoughts, our walk with God, ect than fixing up our outward beauty. I know I spend more time getting dressed and doing my hair each day than I spend adorning my inward being. I need a lot more fixing done on my actions and words than I do my face and clothes. Challenge yourself to focus on the inward rather than the outward! I am taking up this challenge, will you?
